Genetic Map Defined

The S. cerevisiae Genetic Map was originally known as the Mortimer Map. The last such Genetic Map was Edition 12 released in January 1995. It is a representation of the order of and distances between genetic markers (usually mutant alleles of genes) along each of the 16 different chromosomes. It is generated using the two-point data submitted from laboratories world-wide. SGD now offers a Combined Physical and Genetic Map for each chromosome that is generated from the most current genetic and physical map data in SGD.
